Dr. Dre just dropped his first track since the release of his album "Compton" in 2015.
"Gunfire" is featured in HBO documentary “The Defiant Ones," which explores the partnership between the rapper and record executive Jimmy Iovine, which spurred a chain of transformative events in contemporary culture.
“Who got a hit just like this? And got heart and rich like this?/Never failed, 20 years and he still got grip like this,” Dre raps on the track while reflecting on his pathway to success.
“How do you spell C.E.O.? D.R.E./What a n-a dream he could try to be,” he continues. “Even though I'm from a place where n-as got TECs, don't mean technology/Grew up 'round Blood n-as, real camaraderie/Plus Crip n-as on the other side of me/But I'm the only n-a that I ever tried to be.”

View StoryAccording to a Collider interview with “The Defiant Ones” director Allen Hughes, Dre is back in the studio working on collaborations with J. Cole and Eminem.
“Right now he's producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem's latest album,” Hughes said. “So Dre's still real active in music, you know? It's the truth.”
