Jimmy Kimmel used the birth of Beyoncé and JAY-Z's twins, plus celebrities' reputation for giving children unusual names, to prank the unsuspecting public outside his Hollywood Blvd. studio on Tuesday.
The A-list power couple haven't officially announced what the kids' names are yet, but people enjoying the Los Angeles sunshine believed just about any ridiculous baby name Kimmel's street team threw at them.
“Celebrity baby names are so unusual now,” Kimmel said to introduce the bit. “The rumor actually is JAY-Z and Beyoncé named their kids Rumi and Sir. I hope that's not true, but we don't know the names of the twins and I wanted to have some fun with that. So this afternoon we went out on the street and we asked people to congratulate Beyoncé and JAY-Z on their recent arrival with some baby names we made up.”
The ABC late-night host's crew came up with names like Cucumber, Uvula, Pantene, Neosporin, Bong, Blunt, Amoxicillin, Gonorrhea, Bedbath and Beyond-cé. But the funniest part is when the volunteers not only believed the strange names, but complimented them.
After one woman was told Beyoncé and JAY-Z named their kids “Zika and Zumba,” she said she thought the names were “gorgeous, very unique.”
