The Black Eyed Peas are getting graphic with their new music.
will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo attended Comic-Con 2017 in San Diego over the weekend, where they introduced the world to their first graphic novel, "Masters of the Sun - The Zombie Chronicles." But the guys told TooFab their latest venture leads straight into their upcoming album, which they're calling the "soundtrack" to the project.
"'Masters of the Sun' is something we've been working on for four years now. It's another way of getting content out," Taboo explained. "will, with a group of writers and illustrators, presented this idea and cohesively we all came together and created this amazing graphic novel 'Masters of the Sun.'"
The idea for 'MoS' was born after a cosplayer, Bernie Bergman, introduced Taboo to the Marvel family. After Taboo extended the intro to will.i.am -- who was "kind of skeptical at first" -- the graphic novel was born.

View Story"The music is the soundtrack for 'Masters of the Sun' and it's like going back to our origin, old-school hip-hop mixed with the new sound," apl added. "We went back to our lyrical content, we got messaging, we have songs like 'Where Is the Love' to just get everybody together."
There's no release date for the album just yet, but Taboo said they're finishing it now. "This year, we're hoping to unleash the amazing experience," he explained.
apl described "Masters of the Sun" as a "hip-hop thriller," which is set against the backdrop of an alien invasion. According to the book's official synopsis, "The main character, Zulu-X, who also has a penchant for hip-hop, is thrust into the middle of the action-packed adventure, fighting a nefarious ancient order with the combination of wisdom and street smarts."
"You got Egyptology mixed in with hip-hop and the good and evil and it has a lot of variables with it," he continued. "We can't really tell you the technological part of it, but it's going to be a totally new experience for our listeners and our fans. We enjoy doing it and they're gonna love it."
The graphic novel is available for pre-order now.
