The country music landscape is shifting and David Fanning is "Ridin' to the Beat" of the new sound.
TooFab has the first look at the artist's new video for the track off his EP "Dreamers," which mixes traditional country lyrics with a splash of EDM.
"The great thing about country music right now and music in general is that the boundaries are getting wider and wider," Fanning told TooFab. "You have Chris Stapelton and then you have Sam Hunt. This has opened the door for me for sure. I feel like the fans just wanna hear great music, for me this comes in the package of a little more progressive version of country music. My live show is just me and a DJ, lots of video walls and lights, it's more like an EDM or pop show but with the meaningful lyrics and emotions of country music."
Watch the video premiere below and keep reading to see what the country star told us about the challenges of picking up the choreography!
What was the thought process behind the new video and your favorite moment bringing those ideas to life?
The thought process was pretty simple. Do something fun and creative with no boundaries. I didn't want this video to just fit into the normal "mold". My favorite moment was definitely bringing the "choreography" to life. This is definitely not something I would normally do so I had to take hip-hop lessons for a few weeks before the shoot to prepare.
How were those dance moves for you?
In one word: DIFFICULT ... I am NOT a dancer that is for sure ... Ask anyone who knows me. But I got in there and put in the work and we got through it! I definitely learned a move or two.
The song is mix of EDM and traditional country, is there this direction you see country music heading?

The New York Times just posted an article about how “nice guys” are taking over country music. Is that another shift you've witnessed?
I have definitely witnessed this for sure. I just believe in putting out music that you believe in and you can't go wrong.
What's coming up next on the horizon for you?
3 more EP's and touring! The next year is a crazy one for sure! Every 3 months I am coming out with a new EP so that is a lot of work, writing it, recording it. But my favorite part of all of this is going out and playing my music and meeting the fans. It really is so cool to see people loving and supporting my music. This is just the beginning.
