John Mayer Teams Up With Bar Mitzvah Video Editor to Make 'New Light' the Best Music Video of the Year

John Mayer is a walking meme in his new music video for "New Light," which dropped Thursday morning on YouTube.

"I needed to make a video for 'New Light' but nobody could agree on a budget. (MUSIC INDUSTRY amirite?)," he explained on Twitter. "So I went to a place downtown and made this with a company that usually does birthday and Bar Mitzvah videos."

And man, does it entertain.

Mayer clearly skimped on the wardrobe budget as well for this one, appearing in a tattered sweatshirt and striped pajama pants as he does his thing in front of a green screen.

Just a few of the exotic locales he "visits": New York City, Paris, Egypt, the beach and one random woman's cubicle.

"Every once in a while a song comes along so powerful it requires a music video fast," he explained in a teaser for the visual. "Like really fast. Where literally anything is better than nothing." The teaser asked, "Is it good? It it content? You're damn right it's content."
