Kat Von D Fires Back at Haters Criticizing Decision Not to Vaccinate Baby

The pregnant tattoo artist, who just got married in red goth style, fired back at critics of her parenting choices she's making with husband Leafer Sawyer (real name Rafael Reyes) in an Instagram post defending their decisions.

"If you don't know what it's like to have the entire world openly criticize, judge, throw uninformed opinions, and curse you -- try being an openly pregnant vegan on Instagram, having a natural, drug-free home birth in water with a midwife and doula, who has the intention of raising a vegan child, without vaccinations," she wrote.

"I knew the minute we announced our pregnancy that we would be bombarded with unsolicited advice," she continued. "I also was prepared for the backlash and criticism we would get if we decided to be open about our personal approach to our pregnancy. My own father flipped out on me when I told him we decided to ditch our doctor and go with a midwife instead."

"My point being: I already know what it's like to make life choices that are not the same as the majority," she added. "So your negative comments are not going influence my choices -- actual research and educating myself will -- which i am diligently doing. This is my body. This is our child. And this is our pregnancy journey."

Although Von D advised those that didn't approve of her choices to unfollow her, that didn't stop more haters from chiming in with more critical comments on the post:

"Good wishes for your pregnancy but anti-vaxx??? Read up on herd immunity and how not vaccinating affects others and the possible implications for your family and others. You have a public platform use it wisely. My child has ASD, he is amazing. VACCINATIONS DO NOT CAUSE AUTISM!!!!"

"I'd love to know the reason behind being anti-vaccination aside from just wanting to be against something to feel like you're fighting. I have yet to read an explanation. I'm ALL for keeping our bodies free from unnecessary substances, but vaccinations have been an actual literal life-saver and have made human lives better, brighter, and safer."

"People who would rather risk the death of their child and others than live with an autistic child. Sad. Even sadder when vaccines are not related to autism in anyway. This is not an educated decision at all. And everyone waving their hands saying how you're still alive and have never been vaccinated, it's because the rest of our parents had a god damn clue and got the rest of us vaccinated! Get a god damn clue you ignorant twits!"

However, there were others that applauded the makeup mogul's parenting choices.

"So excited for you! Do your research on vaccines, they aren't vegan!"

Von D responded to that last comment with, "There's no way we are vaccinating our baby. High-five to you for promoting that!"
