Nikki Bella and John Cena might be on their way to a reconciliation, but they still have a lot of deeper issues to figure out first.
In Sunday's episode of "Total Bellas" -- aptly titled, "Make Up or Breakup?" -- John changed his mind about having kids and told Nikki that he was even willing to get surgery in order to give her children.
Nikki Bella Threatens to Call Off Wedding with John Cena ... Again ... In 'Total Bellas' Preview
View StoryJohn proposed an intimate date night to put all of their feelings out the table.
"I don't think date nights can ever get old, but I think so many years down the road, to keep things exciting, I think kids help that in a relationship," Nikki said to John. "I see the point of kids after you've been with someone for so long."
"So basically, what you just said across the table is, you would get bored of me," John replied.
"I'm not going to get bored of you," she responded.
"In a hypothetical universe, say I was like, 'OK we're going to have kids,' and we do and you find out that wasn't the real problem. And then years from now you look at me and resent," he continued. "So I'm talking to you tonight and asking these difficult questions because I don't know if you're just upset that you're not going to be a mom or if you've fallen out of love with me. Because it kind of feels like both. There's no way I can interpret your actions over the last three months as anything different."
"I feel like there's so much more I want to do with you and experience with you," Nikki said in reply. "It's just wanting to be a mom and knowing, like, you will not be a dad. So it's me who's stuck around thinking I can be OK with it and I just came to the realization that I'm not OK with it."
Nikki Bella's Brother Says Breakup with John Cena Was NOT a Publicity Stunt
View Story"So it's literally just about being a mom? OK, because I can't have you out of my life," John said. "Ever. And I wanna marry you and relationship and marriage is about sacrifice, and I will make that sacrifice for you. I will give you a child."
He added that even though he's aware he "physically can't have kids," he's "willing to have surgery and then still go through with being a dad."
"I think I'm gonna leave here as a fiancée," Nikki confessed to the camera. "I am still the soon-to-be Mrs. Cena."

'Today' Show Revelations
Before the crazy date night, Nikki had to experience the world learning about their breakup. When the news broke, Brie Bella visited her sister to make sure she was OK.
"So the news that they broke up is finally out. Everyone is covering that Nikki Bella and John Cena are broken up," Brie said in a confessional.
Brie asked her sister if she's felt lonely being in her house with John, but then asked her if she's been watching any TV -- specifically if she saw John on the "Today" show. Nikki hadn't heard anything about it.

View Story"I couldn't believe what he said about your guys' relationship," Brie said, handing her cellphone to Nikki to watch the clip.
While on the "Today" show, John addressed the breakup and suggested that he wanted to work things out with Nikki. This really confused the reality star, because she thought their relationship was over.
"It's kind of confusing right now watching John's interview on the 'Today' show because, last we talked, that pretty much was it. Like, if I wanna be a mom, there's no John," Nikki said.
"I just think in that interview, John could have [gone] two different ways," Brie replied. "He could've said, 'You know, this was a beautiful relationship. I learned a lot, but we're going our separate ways,' or he could say what he did say."
Nikki expressed that it was "weird" to see John talking so openly about their relationship on live television after they haven't talked or seen each other in awhile.
"You can see in his face that it was hard that that was brought up," Brie said.
"It's hard for me, too," Nikki told her sister. "I see why you're supposed to get married in the beginning of a relationship. I've been with John for almost 6 years, and it's already been a lot of work. It's just different because I've never had that piece of paper."
"But I love him so much," she added, to which her sister replied, "I know. That's why you gotta talk to him, Nicole."
"Ugh, it's just so hard. I just wanna be a mom," Nikki said.

View StoryMore Than Baby Issues?
Everything seemed all fine and dandy after Sunday's episode, but as we saw in a preview for next Sunday's episode, it looks like baby issues aren't Nikki and John's only problem.
"I've been miserable and I've been trying to be happy, but I realize there was just such deeper problem," Nikki cries in the preview.
The clip then flashes to Nikki traveling to Paris with her friends and being back back with John. It also shows Nikki trying on wedding dresses (again!) and all seems to be alright. But, as we all know, nothing is set in stone with these two until they say "I do."
"He's wanted a very strong career and he has that," Brie tells her sister. "Unfortunately to have that, he lost the woman of his dreams."
"John and I might be calling off the wedding again," Nikki tells Brie over the phone, before the clip ends in a cliffhanger.
"Total Bellas" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on E!
