After a tumultuous few days, Nicki Minaj got down with some hip-hop puppets for the day-glow music video for her "diss track," "Barbie Dreams."
The single immediately got the attention of the music world as it called out several artists by name, including DJ Khaled, 50 Cent, Takeshi 6ix9ine, Eminem, Young Thug, Quavo and more. But even though she calls them out for several very personal things, the rapper insists the song is actually not a "diss track," saying on her "Queen Radio" Sirius XM show that these are all artists she loves.
Nicki Minaj Calls Cardi B Fight 'Mortifying and Humiliating,' Says She Needs an 'Intervention'
View StoryShe took that love to a new level with the music video for the single, adding in puppet versions of several of them to dancing along in her rainbow-colored ... love-fest?
The harshness of the lyrics juxtaposed oddly and yet somehow perfectly with the technicolor backdrops and Minaj's brightly-colored ensembles and hairstyles. The rapper was all smiles throughout the number, too, dancing and smiling and winking several times to the camera.
If anything, it added proof that this whole thing is very tongue-in-cheek and not meant to be taken seriously at all. Interestingly, she released that message on the same day that she took to "Queen Radio" to call out Cardi B for the infamous shoe-throwing incident that occurred over the weekend.
"The other night I was the part of something so mortifying and so humiliating to go through in front of upper echelon people who are, you know, people who have their lives together," Minaj said on her show. Cardi B accused her of calling out her child and commenting on her as a mother, which Minaj denied.
The Most Savage Reactions to Nicki Minaj and Cardi B Fight Harper's Bazaar Party

She later added, "The lord gave you a blessing of a beautiful bundle of joy and the only thing on your mind once you gave birth was to attack people and stop their bags? Get this woman some f--king help. This woman is at the best stage of her career, and she's out here throwing bottles and throwing shoes? Get this woman an intervention!"
According to TMZ, the rival rappers got in a heated confrontation Friday night at the Harper's Bazaar party during New York Fashion Week. Cardi reportedly approached Nicki at her table and called her out for spreading lies about her, and then lost it. The "Bodak Yellow" singer took off her shoe and threw it at Nicki, but missed. The video footage shows that Cardi had to be held back security.
