Zayn Malik and Zhavia just put a new spin on an old classic, covering "A Whole New World" for Disney's live-action remake of "Aladdin."
With Zayn taking on the titular character's part and his duet partner singing Jasmine's, the two star in a music video for the cover, which will play over the credits of the new film.
"The selection of artists, producer and tonal direction was critical for the success of updating a classic song like this," said Mitchell Leib, president of Music & Soundtracks for the Walt Disney Studios, in a press release. "Zayn's vocals are like no other and his artistic imprint immediately brought a contemporary and diverse presence. Additionally, Zayn could have chosen any artist in the world to collaborate with on the duet, but he personally selected Zhavia for her unique perspective, powerful vocal abilities and to platform a talented new artist, ensuring that the audience could discover this song, again, for the first time."
Of the collaboration, Zhavia tweeted, "It's finally out! It was really hard to keep this a secret! I'm so happy to be a part of this incredible song ... hope you all love it !"
The full soundtrack will also include a new version of "Friend Like Me" performed by Will Smith and DJ Khaled, as well as a new son, "Speechless," described as Jasmine's (Naomi Scott) "big breakout song in the film about finding her voice."
Other songs on the album: "Arabian Nights," "One Jump Ahead" and "Prince Ali." The digital album will release May 21, with a physical album drop on May 24.
"Aladdin" soars into theaters May 24.
