"I always believe that things really happen for a reason," Bella says of her Mod Sun split. "I'm not sure what that one was."
Lighting up a joint filled with her own brand of weed, Bella Thorne invited Tom Ward into her bed to talk about directing a Pornhub movie, what she likes to watch, how she feels about ex Tana Mongeau and getting dumped by Mod Sun ... at Coachella.

Earlier this month, news broke that the 21-year-old former Disney star would be making her directorial debut for Pornhub with a BDSM-themed short film titled "Her and Him." In addition to directing the film, she also cast its stars: Abella Danger and Small Hands.
"I had them read, obviously," she told Tom, who wondered what the process for casting porn stars was like. "So the film originally, when I was shopping it around, it obviously has a physical, sexual nature to it that is a bit more on the violent side."
Tom noted he saw the female star in the film holding a knife.
"It's a little bit on the psychological side of like a cat-and-mouse game that I really liked," Bella explained. "And I think that speaks for a lot of our male vs. female constantly when it doesn't really need to be like that, but there's always this level of dominance and submissive and how that plays such a big role in general in life, so I wanted to do something like that. So I brought it into a sense where you could really see it so it's physical."
"But yeah, I had both of them read," she continued, noting that the original film she wrote was not necessarily considered a pornographic one. "There was a sex scene, but it wasn't like fully-produced-by-Pornhub sex scene."
"Then when Pornhub wanted to do it, I was like, 'Great!'" she went on. "Because I didn't wanna just do a sex scene that felt kind of like we're copping out, in a sense. Like, 'Oh we can't show this and we can't show that, so we're just gonna like do a little fun thing with the camera.' That's like not the style I really love. I really love the movie 'Love,' so that was one of my references for when I shot it. I like that style of just being really realistic."
"For instance, when you're doing sex scenes and you're filming them in movies, and then they're like, 'Take off your bra!' Okay, but also there's sometimes where you're having sex and your bra is on, and that's actually even more natural because it's more realistic. Sometimes you don't take off the bra."
Bella said she "wanted to let [Abella and Small Hands] play" but did provide them with some direction. "Mostly it was really about getting this level of connection between the two," she explained. "And then at the end, this complete equality in happiness between the both of them in this sexual moment when they're both connecting on such a level of ... when they're connecting and they're in bed towards the end of their love making."
Despite her confidence in speaking about the topic of sex, Bella did feel a bit "awkward" telling her actors what to do. "It was so interesting. It was so interesting, really. I don't know another word," she said with a laugh.
"When I direct, I talk a lot while I direct, so I'm like, 'No, B-cam, kinda go down, find that. No, no, no. I don't like that. Actually, pull focus to that thing back there. Oh, Abella, head down. Okay, that looks good right there. A-cam, up a little bit,'" she said. "And so I'm always talking, so it feels even more awkward in the sense that they're able to just go at it."
Bella explained that, "for me, the way I see sexy is seeing everything but nothing as well. Like, leaving so much to the imagination, but yet letting it be so natural that you do see it. So actually for me, I'm like, 'No, no, too much penis. Too much penis! Up, camera. Up, camera!'"
She also likes to play with "weird" camera angles, like the ones used in psychological thrillers. "I don't wanna see everything like just straight up," she said. "I'd rather just get bits and parts, because I feel like when you're making love, you don't see everything straight up. You are getting bits and parts. You're seeing this and a little bit of that. There is so much that you don't see in that sense, too, so I wanted that to show on camera."
Bella Thorne's Directorial Debut is a Pornhub Movie

Bella said she does watch porn but doesn't always go for the same thing. "It depends on my mood," she told Tom. "It depends on my vibe, but usually -- again, depending on the mood -- I like stuff more on the rougher side of things, yeah, that probably shows in the short [film]. Besides the knives and shit."
"I like passion, but I also like to like just look at porn and look at what other people are watching, even if it's not turning me on," she explained. "I'm interested to see how people have sex. It's also like this level of connection. In a weird way, in the most simple way, if you like a photo that all your other friends like and you see in the news feed that they all like this photo too, then you all have this level of connection that you both agree, whether you like the filter or the way the photo's taken or whatever."
"So when you're on Pornhub, it is interesting because nobody talks about sex," she went on. "That's why I wanted to do the movie, because sex is such a weird thing, but how did we all get here, guys? Like, why is this such a big deal? ... So when you go on Pornhub and you do see what other people are watching and connecting to, there is this level of understanding, where you kind of feel at home sexually in a sense because you never feel at home because no one ever talks about it. God forbid you mention sex at the dinner table! 'Ohhh, nooo, it's sooo scary! And it's so uncomfortable!' When really, that's a good amount of time that we spend throughout the day when something of sexual content is on our mind in some sense, but we just block that part out."
Bella Thorne Slams Jake Paul After He's Seen with a Woman Who's Not Tana Mongeau

Whipping out Bella's new book, "The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental Disarray," Tom pulled out a line from a poem called "Tana."
"Your big behind stops traffic," he read, prompting Bella to snag the book out of his hands so she could read the "short and sweet" poem in its entirety.
"That seemed like a real relationship," Tom said.
"No, I love T," Bella replied. "Of course I love her."
"And you guys made up, which was nice," Tom said. "We all saw on social media."
"She's got those eyes, man," Bella replied. "She's got those eyes. Every time she comes at me with those eyes, man, I'm just putty."
At the mere mention of Tana's controversial wedding to Jake Paul, Bella said sternly, "I'm not gonna comment on the wedding."
"Uh, I didn't go, no. I was filming," she responded to Tom's question, then immediately started reading the poem.
Naturally, the conversation turned toward Bella's polyamorous relationship with the fellow influencer.
"I think it's actually quite surprising how many guys are not into that," she explained to Tom, who pressed her about how that type of relationship could work when both parties are also dating straight men. "It's like, 'oh yeah hot if you kiss a girl,' but like, 'oh God forbid you have feelings.' Then there's a problem. But that doesn't really make sense. If you're gonna kiss someone, most likely you have feelings."
"But Tana and I had such a sweet level of understanding of one another and the other person's needs," she went on. "We were never controlling over each other, or you know, if I saw her at a party kissing a girl, it wouldn't make me upset. I think we have this level of -- really, there's a lot of love there. Really, we just want each other to be happy, so even when we're kind of making each other upset -- which is really rare -- we still kind of have to go out of our way to be like, 'Okay, f--k it,' because there's love there."
"People think Tana's 'out there,' but it's like, 'Nah, that's her image, bro,'" Bella explained. "She's putting that out there for you to say that at this point. So many people think this is a big accident. Like, no, that was purposeful. These people want you to see them as they want to be seen. I'm always trying to find out the level of, what do I want to be seen as? What is so much of myself, and yet, what would I like to be and what would I like people to see me as?"
"To make it as far as we both have," she added, "you kind of have to be a little clever."

Tom asked Bella if it it was true that Mod Sun broke up with her during a Coachella trip.
"Yes, mhm, this is true," she confirmed, biting her nails.
"Love is a funny, fickle thing where it really is the roller coaster, in the cheesiest way," she explained. "You fall in love, you fall out of love, you fall back in love, you start bickering so much you think, 'Oh my God, we have to break up!' Then the person does something that just brings you right back to that in-love feeling, right back to that first moment in time where you decided, 'I wanna be with this person.' Then it goes up and down. It goes in a circle again."
"And then, unfortunately, we broke up over something really, really silly, but I always believe that things really happen for a reason," she said. "I'm not sure what that one was, but we gave each other a lot of really great things and a lot of really great experiences and taught each other a lot, and that's really what you're doing when you're dating. That's what you're taking away, you know? Experiences. And if you're not learning with your partner, then why are you dating them?"
"I'm still very grateful that we dated for two years," she noted. "But yeah, it's pretty silly."
