O'Donnell confirmed her engagement to police officer Elizabeth Rooney in October 2018.
Rosie O'Donnell has opened up about her relationship with Elizabeth Rooney amid rumors the two have split.
During an interview with ExtraTV, the former talk show host, 57, revealed she is staying optimistic, noting the strains on relationships that develop from sharing a life with a celebrity.
"I'm good. We are still figuring things out -- it's hard in the public light," she began. "It's hard for a person who is a normal person in a normal job. I'm kind of used to it. We are trying to figure it out."
"I am a hopeful person and I am hoping for the best," the "Harriet The Spy" actress added.
In late October, reports surfaced the two had called off their one-year engagement. O'Donnell and Rooney, 34, had deleted pictures from their respective social media accounts.
O'Donnell confirmed her engagement to the police officer and Army veteran in October 2018, calling her a "wonderful woman" to People.
"She's very much an equal, she's very much her own person and loves what she does. She's a pretty unbelievable young woman," she told the publication.
O'Donnell even joked about their 23-year age gap at the time.
"I keep telling her I'm too old for her. But she doesn't seem to care," she explained. "She's like, 'I was in the Army! I put my life on the line every day you think I don't know who I want to date?' I'm like, 'Alright I guess that's true.' She has a lot of good points."
O'Donnell was previously married to Kelli Carpenter from 2004 to 2007 and Michelle Rounds from 2012 to 2015. Rounds died in 2017 from an apparent suicide.
