She wasn't picked to step in for Simon Cowell, but Jessica Simpson did get a taste of being an "American Idol" judge last week -- when a group of naval officers sang for her on the Arabian Sea.
Jessica visited the USS Harry S. Truman on October 1, where a group of eight Sailors and Marines performed for her for the chance to sing a duet with her at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in November.
The performances of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" were all part of the ship's "Truman Idol" competition, where Aviation Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class John Britt was crowned the winner.
According to the Navy, Britt's wife and child will join him in NY for the ceremony and his duet with Jessica will be featured on her upcoming Christmas album.
