These girls are truly outrageous!
Yep, the "Jem and the Holograms" movie is really happening -- and today, we now know who will be playing the title characters.
For those unfamiliar with the 1980's cartoon, the story follows the adventures of Jerrica Benton and her rock-star alter-ego, Jem. "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" director Jon M. Chu will helm the film, with Scooter Braun and Jason Blum producing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will center on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation and embarks on a music-driven scavenger hunt.
Chu just announced the first casting info online earlier today. So, who's in the band?
Aubrey Peeples will play our pink-haired heroine.
Peeples is most well-known for her role as Layla Grant on "Nashville," where she also proved that she can in fact sing ... something very important for this role.
Stefanie Scott will take on the role of Kimber, Jem's younger sister and resident keyboard player.
Scott previously starred on Disney Channel's "A.N.T. Farm" and, like most Disney stars, also released a number of singles while working for the network.
Another Disney alum playing backup for Jem is Hayley Kiyoko, who will play Aja in the flick.
Hayley previously starred in the Mouse House film "Lemonade Mouth" and currently appears on ABC Family's "The Fosters." She also has performed with bands like Hede and The Sunners and released her own solo EP in 2013.
And last, but certainly not least, is Aurora Perrineau, who was cast as Shana.
Aurora appeared in the 2013 film "A House Is Not a Home" and is the daughter of "Lost" star Harold Perrineau.
Chu also shared the first look at the girls in their hair and makeup. It's only a glimpse ... but we'll take what we can get for now!
Are you excited about the flick? We can't wait to see who will be playing The Misfits!
