Crystal Bowersox says her ex-BF couldn't handle all the attention she was getting -- and the two broke-up the same day she sang the most important song of her life.
Crystal went on the radio this morning with Ryan Seacrest and her now-ex up and left on Tuesday -- hours before performing on the final voting episode of "American Idol."

Crystal added, "I'm a small town girl, but I want this more than anything. I didn't think he was up for it."
