Thanks to her role in the hotly anticipated English version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," actress Rooney Mara has an extreme new look -- and we've got the first clear shots of her in full costume!
Rocking a jet black uneven bob and leather clothes to match, Mara shows off her Lisbeth Salander look in the new issue of W Magazine -- a look which required her to bleach her eyebrows, chop her hair and pierce her lip, brow, nose and nipple.
Before I read the book, I didn't think I could do it,” Mara tells the mag, “I locked myself in a room for a week and read all three books, and decided I really wanted to be Lisbeth. But I thought I had no shot at it.”
Though the studio wanted big names for the role, like Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson, director David Fincher says he "wanted her [Mara] from the beginning ... It's so odd how who people are comes out in auditions. We didn't make it easy for Rooney, and there was no way to dissuade her.”
The movie is set for a December 2011 release -- check out the full interview with Mara and Fincher over at W Magazine for more!
