Hot off the heels of "The Avengers," Robert Downey Jr. is back to work as Iron Man -- and he's got some company on set!

In new photos shot today on set in Wilmington, North Carolina we're getting our first look at who reports are saying is actor James Badge Dale in costume wearing the Iron Patriot suit.
In the comics, the Iron Patriot suit was inspired by both Iron Man and Captain America and was worn by "Norman Osborn" ... the character Willem Dafoe plays in the "Spider-Man" movies.
We're guessing Marvel is taking some liberties with the story, as Dale will play "Eric Savin" in the flick ... the soldier who eventually becomes bad guy Coldblood.
