This definitely isn't Sylvester Stallone's Judge Dredd ... and that's a good thing.
The first trailer for "Dredd," the upcoming remake/reboot of the 1995 film flop and adaptation of the British comic book "2000 AD," was released online this morning.
Starring Karl Urban ("Star Trek"), Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones") and Olivia Thrilby ("Juno"), the movie definitely looks more promising than it's Sly predecessor -- featuring a lot of ruthless action and a much darker tone.
According to the official synopsis:
The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called "Judges" who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner.
Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge -- a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of "Slo-Mo" experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.
Those who love seeing Headey play the scheming Cersei on "Game of Thrones" are in luck -- she plays Dredd's main foe, a prostitute-turned-drug lord with one nasty scar.
The movie opens September 21 -- will you be there? Sound off below!
