Whitney Houston passed away six months before her longtime project “Sparkle” hit the big screen. Now, Jordin Sparks and her fellow cast mates are paying tribute to the legend.
“Extra” correspondent Terri Seymour caught up with Season 6 winner of "American Idol," who said that she considers Whitney a mentor.
"One of the biggest things she taught me was never forget where you come from and always be humble," Jordin said.
Sparks also shared that Whitney had a very giving nature. “She always wanted to see us shine. She wanted to give all of us the spotlight,” she said.
Watch the video above to see what else Jordin and her costars like Derek Luke, Mike Epps and Carmen Ejogo had to say about working with the legend, in what Luke referes to as “Whitney's last love song."
"Sparkle" hits theaters Aug. 17.
