Let's face it.
This year's MTV Video Music Awards were a snoozefest if you were anyone other than a One Direction fan (the British boy band picked up three Moonmen).
The star power was seriously lacking (no Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, etc.) and the show featured mostly uninspired performances. Even Chris Brown was reserved during his acceptance speech. The cameras kept cutting to shots of bored celebrities: Rihanna, Zoe Saldana, etc.
There were a few highlights though. First-time host Kevin Hart was funny and deserved more screen time. His opening monologue -- which poked fun at the Drake and Chris Brown club fight -- got the night's few laughs. Check out what he had to say about Kristen Stewart's cheating scandal, below:
P!nk was the featured musical performer, and she did not disappoint. We were hoping to get a repeat of her amazing aerial performance from 2009, but her rendition of "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" was still exciting:
Aussie actress Rebel Wilson ("Bridesmaids") proved to be the most outrageous presenter, lustily going after members of The Wanted. The night's OMG moment came when she moved her hands to reveal the bottom of her bikini bod tee was, shall we say, a little unkempt.
Kristen Stewart was over 2,500 miles away in Toronto, but the rest of the "Twilight" cast presented a new trailer for "Breaking Dawn -- Part II." It wasn't good per se (particularly the CGI), but it was certainly entertaining. Watch as Bella tackles a mountain lion, mid-air:
Finally, Taylor Swift wrapped the show with her teen anthem "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." After a string of bad vocals at awards shows, the perpetually open-mouthed musician actually sounded pretty good. We're not sure what was up with her "Where's Waldo" shirt and ending stage dive. Odd.
