Michelle Williams has never been one to discuss her personal life, but she's finally dishing on her boyfriend Jason Segel, and she couldn't be happier.
The 32-year-old graces the cover of the March issue of In Style -- alongside her "Oz: The Great and Powerful" co-stars Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis -- where she admits that she didn't know who the "How I Met Your Mother" star was before they dated.
"He is nice ... I didn't actually realize who he was before I started dating him," the Montana native confesses. "I mean, I saw the 'Muppets' movie, and I thought, 'Oh, that's cute,' but the truth is I didn't realize he made a lot of very popular, funny movies or was on a TV show."
Jason's successes weren't the only things that surprised Michelle about her new man: "But maybe more important, I didn't realize he was so tall [6'4"]. I thought, 'Hey, man, you're cramping my style!' I tried wearing wedge heels for a while to compensate, but it wasn't me and I just gave up."
It's hard out here for a short girl.
Michelle's most famous relationship was with Heath Ledger, the father of her daughter Matilda, now 7. The couple spent 3 years together and split just months before Ledger died of an accidental overdose in January 2008. It seems Williams is finally finding happiness after that tragedy, and is thrilled that the world seems to be on board with her new coupling.
“If people are happy about it that makes me feel good because in my head the opposite is often true — that people fault or blame you for things,” she shares. “That's really painful. You wish they would just want you to be happy, for your kid to be happy, and for you to have a good life and do good work."
She adds, "Any kind sentiment that the world can feed back, well, I won't turn it down.”
Well FYI Michelle, we're thrilled for you!
