Eva Mendes has the best kind of problems.
The actress covers the October issue of Lucky magazine where she opens up about her career, her fashion, and (sigh) refers to Ryan Gosling as her "boyfriend."
When Mendes was getting ready to shoot "A Place Beyond the Pines," she dropped some serious weight for the role ... and her mother was not a fan.
"I'll do anything for a role. For 'A Place Beyond the Pines,' I exercised a lot. I wanted my character to feel really depleted. My mom didn't understand why I would want to look that way. She's constantly telling me I'm too skinny," she reveals.
Mendes was recently approached by New York & Company to create a collection -- seems fitting, since Eva has always been interested in fashion.
"I never thought I would be a designer, if that's what I am," she admits. "And at first, I wasn't sure I could do it."
Well she did it, the line will make it's big debut September 19th! Eva also says that her collection is for the everyday woman, and features a number of items that can be worn from day to night.
And while she's become an A-list actress, the 39-year-old still feels insecure form time to time. "Of course, to feel beautiful, you have to have healthy self-esteem and work on yourself, and that can be hard," she says.
Adding, "And there are days when I don't feel great, but I put on my favorite dress and throw a scarf in my hair, and it makes all the difference. Hopefully my line can do that for women. Even if you're not feeling your best, let's admit it, the right outfit helps."
What probably helps her get through those tough days (more so than just her wardrobe) is Eva's doting beau, worldwide heartthrob, Mr. Ryan Gosling. The two met on set while filming "A Place Beyond the Pines."
Like us, you're probably hoping Eva opened up about their low-profile relationship ... but in true Hollywood style, she kept quite -- except for the whole calling him her "boyfriend" thing.
Mendes just finished working on Ryan's directorial debut, "How to Catch a Monster" and when asked about the flick, the "Hitch" actress stays tight-lipped.
"You can ask about my boyfriend. I just won't answer," she playfully replies.
