J.J. Abrams is letting fans onto the set of "Star Wars: Episode VII," in more ways than one.
The director just shared a video from filming in Abu Dhabi today, giving us our first glimpse at what one of the sets of the highly-anticipated sequel will look like -- and even revealed one of the brand new creatures!
"Star Wars" fanatics will be happy to see the use of practical effects in the clip, as the first alien we get a good look at is very Jim Henson in design, and thankfully not a man in a blue suit who'll later be transformed with the use of CGI.
So, what's the video actually for? Well, it's a really good cause.
Abrams just announced the creation of the "Star Wars: Force for Change" this morning, a new initiative from Disney and Lucasfilm to raise funds and awareness for UNICEF.
By giving a $10 donation via Omaze.com/StarWars, fans are automatically entered for the chance to win a pretty incredible prize: A walk-on role in the film!
According to Abrams, the grand prize winner will receive a trip to the Pinewood set in London where they'll meet the cast -- and then be transformed into a character for a scene!
"We're even more excited that by participating in this campaign, Star Wars fans will be helping children around the world through our collaboration with UNICEF Innovation Labs and projects," says Abrams.
