It's clobberin' time!
O.K., so The Thing doesn't actually say his famous catchphrase in this first trailer for "Fantastic Four" ... and that's probably a good thing.
This reboot is clearly more serious than the Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd films from 2005 and 2007, this time with Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell stepping into the supersuits.
Director Josh Trank opened up about the film with Collider, saying this new version will "fall in line more with a Cronenberg-ian science fiction tale of something horrible happening to your body and [it] transforming out of control," a la "The Fly."
The trailer doesn't do much to explain the plot, but Trank says you can expect a "modern telling" of how the four main characters got their superpowers. And speaking of those powers, we gotta say, they look pretty cool in the brief glimpses we see above.
We get a great look at a fully-flamed Human Torch, Sue Storm's force field, a little of Mr. Fantastic's stretching ability and a couple shots of The Thing.
Check out the full synopsis below. The film opens August 7.
"A contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."
