It's been two years since the unexpected death of Lea Michele's on-and-off-screen love interest, Cory Monteith. And today, she marked the occasion with a heartfelt tweet.
“Today we remember the laughter and joy you brought into our lives every day,” she posted to her social networking pages, along with a picture of the former “Glee” cast member. “We think of you always and love you so.”
Even before his days as “Finn” on the hit Fox show, Monteith had been in and out of rehab numerous times for drug abuse and addiction. On July 13, 2013, the 31-year-old actor was found dead in his Vancouver apartment due to a drug overdose.
The writers of “Glee” incorporated Monteith's death into the show, allowing Lea and the rest of the cast to grieve the actor's loss both onscreen and in real life.
"The Quarterback" aired in October of 2013 as part of Glee's fifth season. The episode was dedicated to Monteith and focused on the death of his character, William McKinley High's football quarterback Finn Hudson.
“I literally lived every day of my life feeling like the luckiest girl in the whole world,” Lea told Ellen DeGeneres back in 2013. “I just thought he was the greatest man.”
Leah's current boyfriend is aspiring actor and model Matthew Paetz. Even though the vocalist has moved on from the tragic loss of Monteith, it's beautiful to see she's keeping his memory alive.
