Though it's been 20 plus years since O.J. Simpson was put on trial for the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, the world is reliving the terrible tragedy and wild trial on the FX series "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story."
O.J.'s then-houseguest Kato Kaelin, Ron's father Fred Goldman and sister Kim Goldman will appear on an upcoming episode of the "Steve Harvey Show," where the group will discuss exactly how accurate Ryan Murphy's new series is. Extra got a behind-the-scenes look at the pre-taped episode, where Kaelin and the Goldman family discuss how the show is representing the real-life happenings.
Kaelin was living in Simpson's guest house when the murder occurred and served as a witness during the trail. While Kato's character has only briefly appeared on the show thus far, he says his portrayal by Billy Magnussen isn't quite right.
"His choice was that he didn't want to meet me, because he already made his choice of how he wanted to portray me ... I get what he did, but how he portrays me is not who I am, but he plays that guy really well," Kato tells Extra.
"His role as me is very inaccurate," he continues. "I am not this spacey guy. I almost compare it to Garth from 'Wayne's World.'"
Ron's sister Kim (left) and father Fred (right) likewise have some harsh criticisms for the show.
"There are a lot of places where things were left out of the show, but then there are places where there's an incredible amount of creative license added or liberties taken, and I'm just sort of frustrated watching it," Kim says about the series.
"So far, Ron and Nicole are footnotes; they were nothing more than dead bodies at the beginning of the show. Their presence, so to speak, is zero so far," Ron's father Fred adds.
Ron's family is also not concerned with O.J.'s feelings about the show. "He's behind bars, which is where he belongs," Fred says.
