Selena Gomez grew up in the spotlight, and she wouldn't change anything about her life.
The 23-year-old pop star, who gorgeously graces the pages of the May issue of GQ, admits it was tough to be famous as a kid.
"I didn't have an opportunity to figure out my life without people having an opinion every step of the way," she tells the mag.
Despite the ups-and-downs of growing up in the limelight, Gomez doesn't want your pity.
"I chose this," she declares. "So I'm not gonna sit here and say, 'Oh, my God, poor me, I didn't have a normal childhood.' I don't give a f--k about that."
One aspect of Selena's life that's always been under a microscope is her rocky relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
Despite constant rumors of a reconciliation with the "Sorry" singer, Gomez seems to be closing the door on that chapter.
"Honestly, what I would love to be printed is that I am so beyond done with talking about that, and him," she recently told Rolling Stone.
While Selena is often the topic of tabloid rumors, she doesn't let the bad buzz affect how she lives her life. "I don't alter my life because of what people are going to talk about," she declared. "If I go and have a great time, I live my life and nothing is going to dictate how I feel unless I let it."
"People have seen most of the choices that I've made in my life. And I love every choice that I've made. Because now I understand how to apply that to my music," she added. "This is who I am. I'm glad my life was never perfect."
