How Chrissy Teigen Gave One Lucky Fan A $5,000 Surprise

Chrissy Teigen surprised a fan by donating over $5,000 to pay the balance on her beauty school tuition on Friday.

"I've seen this be your passion for such a long time now. So excited to see you fulfill your dream!" Teigen wrote alongside her donation to social media follower Mercedes Edney.

Edney, an aspiring aesthetician, responded and said, "THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!! @chrissyteigen I don't even know how else to thank you right now."

"I'm really excited for you to live out your passion," Teigen responded to the tweet.

Explaining how the donation went down, Edney tweeted, "To see that paypal alert. Y'all, I literally started cussing paypal thinking it was a glitch."

Edney, who had been trying to raise the money to pay off the balance on her tuition to the school, shared an update on Instagram Saturday, thanking the star for her contribution to her future.

"I have been crying all night and I cried in the office this morning as I paid my downpayment for esthetician school," Edney wrote. "I haven't been this happy in a very long time. Thank you Chrissy and thank you to everyone else who voted or rtd my link or have supported me this entire time. It means more to me than you'll ever know."
