Twitter Brutalizes Piers Morgan For Saying White Girls Should Be Allowed to Use N-Word

Piers Morgan thinks it's completely fine for white people to use the N-word while singing along to a song, and Twitter is ripping him apart over it.

Sparked by a Snapchat video gone viral of group of University of New Hampshire Alpha Phi Sorority girls singing along to the explicit lyrics of Kanye West's "Gold Digger," the controversial British journalist wrote an op-ed for The Daily Mail detailing why he feels the "Alpha Phi Sorority sisters did nothing wrong."

"If you want someone to blame," he wrote, "then blame Kanye West."

In the piece published Thursday afternoon, Morgan begged the question: "How can it possibly be racist to sing along to a song that was No. 1 in America for TEN WEEKS? And is the word 'n---a' racist anyway? Oh, I know the word 'n----r' from which it is derived is racist. We all know that. That's why I won't even spell it out."

Morgan pointed out that even "famous black stars are split about [the word's] meaning, too," referencing the differing opinions of comedian Chris Rock and the late Tupac Shakur on the matter.

"Nobody, it seems, is too sure if it's actually offensive to spell out the word 'n---as' or not," he wrote. "When Larry Wilmore called Barack Obama a 'n---a' at the White House Correspondents Dinner, I read several defenses by black journalists explaining that 'n----r' is a slur against black people, whereas 'n---a' just means 'buddy.'"

Morgan argued that Kanye West himself said in 2012 that "'if n---as is such a positive word, why do we feel so uncomfortable for white people to say it, even with a hall pass?'"

He defended the ladies of Alpha Phi, saying, "I doubt any of them gave it a moment's thought when Kanye's song 'Gold Digger' began playing, and certainly not any racist thought. They're young, free and partying and it would have just seemed like any other very popular rap song. So they sang along to it, and that meant they subconsciously sang the word 'n---as' too. So what?"

According to Morgan, "the only way to stop its use completely is for EVERYONE to stop using it, including black people. To me, there is no difference between 'n----r' and 'n---a.' They sound exactly the same, and are therefore open to permanent confusion and the exact same capacity to offend. I wish the n-word could be expunged from society altogether, as the k-word has been pretty much eradicated in South Africa."
