Late-night comedians followed in the footsteps of Twitter this week in cracking jokes at Steven Seagal's expense for his comments bashing NFL players for taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial inequality in the United States.
"If these protesters don't like this country, they can feel free to challenge me to mortal combat," Stephen Colbert said Thursday night in his best impersonation of the '90s action star.
Seagal, who is now a Russian citizen and besties with Vladimir Putin, was trolled, bigly, for weighing in on American politics on "Good Morning Britain."
Steven Seagal 'Under Siege' on Twitter After Bashing 'Disgusting' NFL Players for Taking a Knee
View Story"I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I don't agree that they should hold the United States of America or the world hostage by taking a venue where people are tuning in to watch a football game and imposing their political views," Seagal said. "I think it's outrageous, I think it's a joke. It's disgusting."
See what else Colbert had to say, as well as Jimmy Kimmel, who took his shots at Seagal on Wednesday night.
"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert"
Colbert decided the best way to mock Seagal is by dressing up as him to further explain what the actor really meant to say in his television appearance, and made sure to reference as many of the actor's movies as possible.
"These football players have the fans 'Under Siege,'" Colbert said. "They may think they're 'Above the Law,' but they may soon find themselves on 'Deadly Ground.'"
"They'll find most Americans are 'Out for Justice' because they're feeling 'Under Siege 2,'" he continued. "And if these protesters don't like this country, they can feel free to challenge me to 'Mortal Kombat.'"
Seagal didn't star in that last '90s movie, but we'd definitely pay a premium pay-per-view rate to watch that match.
And to wrap up his impersonation with a final jab, the late night host said: "One thing's for sure, you mess with Steven Seagal, you're not only going straight to hell, you're going straight to DVD."

Kimmel mocked Seagal's claim that he has "risked" his life "countless times for the American flag."
"He risked his life twice actually, once in 'Under Siege' and another time in 'Under Siege 2.' How dare these athletes disrespect his sacrifice," the ABC late-night host said.
In all fairness, though, it is worth noting that Seagal was likely referring to his law enforcement work in Louisiana, where he has served as a reserve deputy chief for the state's sheriff's office. His work in the field has been documented on A&E reality show "Steven Seagal: Lawman."
Much like those who made fun of Seagal on Twitter, Kimmel couldn't resist a joke about the actor's appearance.
"He looks great too, doesn't he," Kimmel said. "He doesn't look like Steven Seagal, he looks like someone who went to CVS and bought a Steven Seagal costume on the way to a party."
