Celebrities across social media began expressing their thoughts, prayers and concerns after a terror attack in New York on Tuesday.
Not far from the World Trade Center, a man drove a rented Home Depot truck the wrong way down a bike path in Manhattan, killing eight people and injuring 11 others, in what is being investigated as a terrorist attack.
According to officials, the driver collided with a school bus and exited the vehicle holding two firearms before police shot him, took him into custody and transported him to a hospital to treat his wounds. Witnesses at the scene said they heard the man yelling "Allahu Akbar," an Islamic phrase meaning "Allah is Greater."

View StorySinger Josh Groban was nearby when the attack took place, tweeting from the scene:
Oh my god I just heard gun shots and ran with my dog. Downtown. Fuck.

I hope everyone's ok. Was half a block from me, didn't see it but heard 8-10 quick rounds fired off. Be safe with your kids out there.

I'm shaking. That's the corner I was supposed to have my coffee but my dog pulled me into the park half a block away 10 min before shooting. https://t.co/AvQeRv7Jha
