Seth Meyers had a very special, blunt message for Matt Lauer on Thursday night.
"You killed your career and you f-cked yourself," the comedian said on NBC's "Late Night."
Late-Night Hosts Lay Into Matt Lauer and Tear Apart Trump's Response
View StoryMeyers kicked off a 12-minute "Closer Look" segment on the subject with a mash up of different news organizations covering the former "Today" host's abrupt termination from NBC News over an "inappropriate sexual behavior" allegation, which reportedly occurred during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. After his firing, three more women came forward with more sexual harassment allegations.
"And you thought the most disgusting thing at the Sochi Olympics was Bob Costa's pinkeye," Meyers said. "Well, move over pinkeye, there's a new, grosser sheriff in town."
Meyers continued the segment by discussing the comparison between Lauer and former Fox powerhouse Bill O'Reilly, who Lauer actually interviewed after the former "O'Reilly Factor" star was fired from Fox News for similar accusations.
"He was talking to Bill O'Reilly, but he could have just as early been talking to a mirror," Meyers said.
Matt Lauer Apologizes and 3 More Developments Since Firing for 'Inappropriate Sexual Behavior'
View StoryThe late-night host didn't stop there. He then dove into the allegations that Variety reported the day of Lauer's firing that included one woman claiming he gave a co-worker a sex toy with an explicit note detailing how he wanted to use it on her.
"As a general rule, if you're giving someone a dildo at work, you're the dildo at work," Meyers said.
This is the first time the NBC late-night host tackled the allegations against the morning host on his network, since Wednesday's "Late Night" episode was pre-taped.
Due to the tree lighting we taped tonight's show yesterday so if you're wondering why any of today's news is conspicuously absent this evening - now you know!
