Bigfoot erotica is a thing, y'all, and it went mainstream Sunday night.
The surprising subject dominated Twitter after a tweet from a Democratic candidate in Virginia went viral.Leslie Cockburn, who is running for the state's 5th Congressional district, called out Republican opponent Denver Riggleman for "campaigning with a white supremacist" and being "a devotee of Bigfoot erotica," even lifting a picture of the sexy, censored beast from Riggleman's Instagram.
Riggleman, however, adamantly denied the accusation, arguing the pictures Cockburn found on his social media were "meant to be funny" and he didn't even know Bigfoot erotica was a thing (Google it -- or don't!) until his opponent brought it up. In a statement on Twitter and a longer one to the media, he did confirm he's co-authored a book about Bigfoot, but stressed it was not erotic and it was also never actually published. He also responded to Cockburn linking him to white supremacy by sharing an op-ed he wrote after the violent Charlottesville protests took over the Virginia city last year.
While some people accused Cockburn of "kink shaming," most curious bystanders were surprised to learn there are people in this world turned on by imagining a sasquatch having sex. Naturally, jokes, memes and GIFs followed one of the pettiest political fights the United States has ever seen.
