The actor admitted to Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" a long fascination with the art form of magic to the point he claims he was still inviting magicians to his birthday parties through his 18th year. Even better, he picked up some of the technique and a few magic tricks along the way.
Of course television's biggest kid, Jimmy Fallon, immediately wanted Redmayne to dazzle him with some real-world wizardry, and the actor did not disappoint. In fact, he brought not only the magic but the pomp and ceremony of a real magician.
Our favorite bits, though, were when he'd break character mid-routine for a little self-deprecating commentary. "Too much?" Never enough!
Redmayne is a natural performer, and he had Fallon eating out of the palm of his hand, and licking the top of a deck of cards, as he made a card disappear and then reappear. But it didn't stop there, as he added a bizarre twist to it the likes of which elevated it to the next level.
