Chris Noth Says Mr. Big 'Wasn't Going to Die' in 'Sex and the City 3' and Doesn't 'Speak to Anyone' From Series

Chris Noth wants to set the record straight: Mr. Big "wasn't going to die" in the since-ditched third "Sex and the City" movie.

Noth -- who played John James "Mr. Big" Preston in the HBO TV series and two big-screen films -- took down a report claiming his character was set to "die of a heart attack in the shower, relatively early on in the film, making the remainder of the movie more about how Carrie recovers from Big's death than about the relationship between the four women."

"He wasn't going to die," the 64-year-old actor told Page Six Sunday at the British Independent Film Awards. "There's no way he was dying. That was all a lie."

The "news" of Big's untimely death caused quite the stir last month when James Andrew Miller made the announcement during a series of "SATC" related podcasts.

Although Noth admitted during one of Miller's podcast episodes that he had not seen the "SATC 3" script for himself, he said Sunday night he's fairly certain his character would have been "smoking a good cigar and drinking tequila."

When asked if he thought Kim Cattrall could have been the one who leaked the idea of Big dying, Noth simply replied, "I don't know," adding that he's not close with any of his former castmates. Sadly, that includes his on-screen wife, Sarah Jessica Parker.

"I don't speak to anyone. We're all living our lives, raising children -- some of us, at least," he said, and dismissed the suggestion that lack of contact was due to animosity. "I mean, no, it happens a lot in films and things. You get very close for a very finite amount of time, and then you never see each other again."

So is Noth happy the third film got canned, or does he wish it would have gotten the green light?

"Neither," he told reporters.

But we have a feeling he's leaning more toward option one. During his sit-down with Miller last month, Noth revealed he "didn't quite enjoy" making the movies.

"I really hate corny stuff," he explained. "It could be because I'm a little bit of a cynic. Like, the whole thing at the end of the movie in the shoe closet -- hated it. Hated the thing at the end of the movie after I felt she deceived me and then I say, 'Well, it's time I give you a bigger diamond ring.' Hated it. I just hate the cornball shit, and I thought it was just really sentimental and overly romantic without any feet in realism."
