Ellen Helps Prep David Spade for His New Comedy Central Late-Night Show

David Spade is on his way to Comedy Central to host a new late-night talk show after "The Daily Show," so Ellen DeGeneres decided to help prep him for all the interviews coming his way.

The "Saturday Night Live" alum has plenty of experience on television shows and in the movies but he's never hosted his own talk show, so this was new ground for him.

He did get fresh practice in a late-night sketch when he and Celine Dion helped Jimmy Kimmel crash a real Las Vegas wedding, though he apparently made it very awkward for Celine beforehand.

"Is it like a regular talk show like this or what kind of talk show?" Ellen asked.

"You don't need to freak out," David joked, "It'll be late."

As for exactly what kind of show he'll be hosting when it launches in July, Deadline reports it will include topical commentary and "a rotating group of Spade's comedian and celebrity friends, while also incorporating field segments that mirror his popular Instagram stories."

That certainly sounds like some form of interview will be a part of it. "When I come on here, I just watch you, you say, 'Hey what's up?' and you lean back for 15 minutes while I talk," David told Ellen.

Sounds easy enough, right?

Nevertheless, he did admit it might be harder than he thinks, so Ellen set him up with a quick game to shake off the nerves and see how his interview instincts are going.

All she did was show him pictures of various celebrities to see what his gut reaction is as far as what question he might like to ask them. Check out some of his best answers below:

Elsewhere in the show, David took Ellen behind the scenes of his recent viral skit where he and Celine Dion joined forces with Jimmy Kimmel to crash an actual Las Vegas wedding. Apparently, David decided to offer Celine an awkward pep talk before they went out there, but it only confused her even more until her security finally decided maybe it was time to go.
