"I told Bentley Ryan got arrested. Imagine how hard it would be to tell your f--king child that," vents Maci.
Maci Bookout's baby daddy Ryan Edwards quit the show in 2018, but he made his return to "Teen Mom OG" on Monday night, following his stint in rehab. By the end of the two-hour premiere, he was in jail.
The situation between Maci and her ex was already tense, as Bookout had an order of protection against him following threats he made to her husband Taylor and their family. While the two hadn't spoken, Maci explained that his wife, Mackenzie, had reached out to see if she was okay with him texting her.
"Technically, he's not supposed to and I was like, 'Okay, yeah, sure.' He said he would like to meet with me," she explained. "He had a lot of stuff that he wanted to say and apologize for but I'm not sure I'm in a place where I can keep my shit together. I'm still angry. There are two things you don't f--k with when it comes to me: my kids and my husband. And he has done both."

Ryan filmed on his own with Mackenzie, ordering a Bug Light while out to dinner with his wife. "Not a good look?" he asked her, as she shook her head no. "I just want a beer with my steak," he explained, before expressing regret for putting her through hell.
"I apologize for putting you through that. You did some tough things by yourself. I'm proud of you. You should be proud of yourself," he said to Mackenzie. "I'm glad to be home, I'm happy. I still haven't gotten to talk to Maci, I've asked a few times. I had done some pretty shady shit, making amends as the little 12 step thing would say, things I've done wrong. I've pretty much made mine to you, do you think I could do anything, you know?"
Mackenzie told him that she needed a little less talk, a little more action, hoping that the 90 days he spent in rehab weren't "a waste." He promised her everything would be okay, but he was wrong. More on that in a minute.
Worrying that "all the drama with [Ryan] is affecting Bentley" -- who was struggling a little in school -- Maci met up with a counselor, speaking with him about why she was hesitant to meet up with her ex.
When asked what the "best case scenario" would be between them, Maci told the counselor, "In a perfect world he can prove that he wants to have a relationship with Bentley and wants to work towards that."

View StoryCalling their relationship "more of an uncle relationship than father-son," she also worried she was preventing them from being closer. "I don't trust him, I don't want to put Bentley in a situation where he gets his hopes up and gets let down," she explained.
Before she made a decision about seeing Ryan in person, however, Edwards was arrestedfor allegedly skipping out on a $36 bar tab, while already on probation. Maci was livid.
"The fact that he's already had 5,000 chances, you can't afford to make petty mistakes," she vented to Taylor. "You don't have that luxury anymore. This is gonna suck because we're gonna have to figure out when and how and what to tell Bentley. I think this is the first time he really had his hopes up. Is it bad I don't feel like he'll be surprised?"
She told her son what happened off-camera, but later said he was "disappointed" to find out the news.
"I told Bentley Ryan got arrested. Imagine how hard it would be to tell your f--king child that," she said to a friend. "Nobody wants to do that. Bentley is not 4 anymore, he understands. I am angry for him because he's a child. If you thought I'd bite your head off for me, then you have no idea what I will do for my son. The anger that's still there, the ugly anger, it's not about me, it's about Bentley. Probably until the day I die I'll want to punch Ryan in the f--king throat."
Mackenzie was also "angry" about the arrest, saying, "I didn't sign up to be a single mother."
Ryan accepted a plea deal and agreed to go to jail for 90 days. After hearing that development, Maci wondered why he was at a bar in the first place.
"I'm also curious why he was drinking Jack and Coke at noon on a Wednesday," she said in a phone call to a friend. "Dude, Bentley was on Christmas break when this happened ... pretty sure you could have found a lot of ways to do some shit with your kids on that Wednesday."
Of meeting up with Ryan in the future, she added, "No part of me wants to do it, but part of me thinks I should do it for Bentley. But there are a lot of things that went down with Bentley that I'm like mama bear bad about and to be honest with you, I don't have a damn thing I want to say to him."
Ryan was released from jail back in April.
"Teen Mom OG" airs Mondays on MTV.
