The season's villain broke new ground with a stunt so despicable, Chris Harrison had to show it to Bachelor Nation early -- even eliminated, he just would not go away!
Try as they might -- and we doubt they tried very hard -- "The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All" special was just another chapter in the Luke P show that has dominated Hannah B's season. Part of that is her own fault, for refusing to let him go for so long, but as we saw tonight, he shoulders a good portion of the blame.
In fact, Chris Harrison couldn't even get to the "Men Tell All" proper because he was just so flabbergasted by what happened next. At first we were confused why they'd show the next rose ceremony with the Final Three during this show instead of waiting until the next week, but by the end of the hour it all made sense.
Luke P. Slams Hannah Brown for Windmill Sex in Heated Twitter War After Being Cut from 'Bachelorette'
View StoryThis was about closure for Hannah, for the guys, for Chris Harrison and for Bachelor Nation. We've all been on a tumultuous and painful journey this season with Luke P, so this was our final chance to close the chapter on Luke for good. And that's why we needed to see that portion of the rose ceremony tonight because otherwise Luke P would have horned his way into Hannah's finale, and she doesn't deserve that.
Yes, you read that right. Even after getting eliminated, Luke had the gall to show up at the rose ceremony anyway and even stood in his spot next to the other three finalists. They had no idea he had been booted from the night before. It was the most incredible display of narcissistic arrogance and chauvinistic behavior yet, as he simply chose to ignore her wishes and force his presence on her.
From there, he further demanded that she give him the time to speak his piece. It was disrespectful to her experience, to the other three guys who were still on the show and to the show itself. As Hannah told him, "That's not how this works."
It got to the point the other guys had to intervene and actually threatened to remove Luke physically from the premises. And yet, he still wouldn't go. What arrogance must you possess that you think reality and the rules and even the wishes of other people don't matter more than your own? And the wishes of the woman you supposedly love mean nothing, either?
'Bachelorette' Hannah Finally Has It Out with Luke P, But Will She Ever Be Rid of Him?
View StoryHonestly, there's not a whole lot that needs to be said here beyond what everyone said to Luke on the show. To his credit, he did show up and take the questions from everyone there. And he spent about half of the show in dramatic pauses trying to formulate his thoughts. It's as if he was filtering through what he wanted to say immediately knowing that it was probably awful and sexist and terrible, and so he forced his brain to say what he hoped would be a more acceptable answer.
This results in some inconsistencies in his answers. And throughout it all, he still mostly kept everything about himself. He got offended that people would question his character, faith and integrity while admitting that he lied to and about the other guys with no explanation as to why he did that. He also expressed a very old-fashioned mentality about women that everyone already knew when he point-blank said that a man should lead and guide his wife in their marriage.
There are faiths that believe this, but he should have been very upfront and honest with Hannah about that -- or any woman he wants to date -- so they know what he expects in his marriage. Chris Harrison asked him if he wanted a wife he could put on a shelf in a glass case and take her down when he needs her. Rather than simply say no, Luke paused longer on this one than any other question he got.
Was he thinking that this is exactly what he wants but he knows he can't just say that? Because if so, that means he is looking to trick a woman into getting with him so he can spring this on her later. He lacks the confidence to believe he can find a woman who wants to be put on a shelf. If that's what he wants, own it and hope for the best. But never be disingenuous to a partner or even a prospective partner about what you want out of this relationship.
It certainly seems like Luke was that a lot.
'Bachelorette' Finalist Peter Weber Second to Be Accused of Leaving Girlfriend for Show
View StoryAt least we got a better understanding from Hannah as to why she latched onto Luke P so hard and kept him for so long despite the laundry list of red flags. It was all to do with her fears about being on "The Bachelorette" and her fears of the intentions of the guys she would be dating. It makes it even more unfortunate that Luke P turned those fears against her by lying that Luke S (for example) wasn't there for the right reasons.
It was using her own fears against her in a manipulative way to benefit himself, and he never did give an explanation as to why he did those things throughout the show. Instead, he simply apologized as he'd done on the show with no indication the remorse was real or indicative of any intention to change. Luke P seems to think Luke P is just fine and everyone else just needs to get on board.
We're going to let Chris and Hannah and Mike and the rest of the guys have their say, as well as Luke P. And then, like Hannah and the show, we'll close our own chapter on Luke P and maybe never have to talk about him again. It's safe to say he won't be the next Bachelor chosen.
For the record, we're on Team Big Mike all the way! That guy is as genuine as it gets, he's committed to finding the right woman for the right reasons, he respects women and ... and ... the show could use a jolt of diversity. It's past time, "Bachelor" producers, so get over yourselves and give the people what they want.

"I have no regrets. I feel like, 'F--k that guy.' And not an ounce of me misses him, wants him in my life or will question my decisions. I'm so glad Luke is finally gone and I never have to see him again." -Hannah (spoken too soon)
"She's never told me that she loves me, but I know she loves me." -Luke P (dude has an engagement ring!)
"Why are you here?" -Hannah (seeing Luke P at rose ceremony)
"Hannah, I'm gonna stand here all day until you--" -Luke P (toxic masculinity and entitlement on full display here)
"No the f--k you're not! Just get away from me." -Hannah
"You will leave because I have already sent you home. That's not how this works." -Hannah (other three guys finally get what's happening and they're shook)
"You're so narcissistic. It's always about 'my this, my that, my that.' It's not. This is not about your heart." -Hannah (but it's 'The Luke P Show')
"My heart isn't broken yet because I'm still standing here and this isn't over for me yet." -Luke P
"Oh my god, well alright." -Hannah (moves podium closer to three remaining bachelors)
"Lay your hands off me." -Luke P (after guys try to get him to leave)
"Or what?"
"Yeah. What are you gonna do?" (the answer was nothing, he was going to do nothing)

"You had your say, it just went poorly, and you wanted another say. Right?" -Chris (theorizing why Luke P crashed rose ceremony)
"I made a mistake. I made Hannah out to be this perfect woman, this perfect wife for me with all the qualities I want in a future wife." -Luke P
"Now Hannah brought up me with pride and yes, I did have a lot of pride and I was very arrogant on the show." -Luke P
"And she called you a narcissist." -Chris (being helpful)
"Yes, exactly. And that's something that I struggled with heavy on the show. And that's something that I'm working on right now."
"So do you feel like she was right in that respect?" -Chris
"That's a tough question because... (all these long pauses) Again I-- I admit for being prideful and arrogant but I think a narcissist is pushing it a little too far because a relationship is a two-way street." -Luke P (what does that have to do with narcissism?)
"Looking back, do you feel like you made any mistakes?" -Chris
"If I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing." -Luke P (just wow)
"Nothing?"
"Where I"m coming from-- You done over there? All right. (to the audience jeers) ... Obviously if I could go back, I would change a lot. But I'm just thankful it played out the way it did." -Luke P (after the commercial break gave him a longer pause to come up with a better answer)
"I watched the season. I didn't like that Luke P guy." -Luke P (trying to be relatable and failing)
"From day one coming here, I felt like I was on a rescue mission for Hannah, that's how I like to look at it." -Luke P
"When you say 'rescue her,' to me that means in your mind she needed to be saved." -Chris
"Okay, let me-- let me-- let me back up. I don't want to be misconstrued here. When I say rescue mission, I mean from them." -Luke (referring to the guys ... he just chooses the worst words all the time, doesn't he?)
"Man, I just gotta call out bullshit when I see it ... We've been watching this backstage and honestly, my blood has been boiling. Luke, there are two types of men. There are men that want an independent, strong woman and then there are men that want a woman they can control. I feel right now that you are the man who wants to control a woman so that you can feel better about yourself. And I'm sorry, but that's not a man." -Devin (interrupting Luke P's interview)
"Is that the type of woman you want, someone you can kind of put on a shelf in a glass case and pull down when you need?" -Chris
"Just give me a second Chris, okay?" -- (way too lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ong a pause) -- "The last thing that I want and the last thing I'll ever do is control a woman. I do want an independent woman in my life for my future wife. I want a woman that will make decisions for herself and that won't need me when I'm there, although a man is supposed to lead and guide a woman in a relationship." -Luke P (the truth finally emerges in the last clause)

"We didn't place that target on you, you put that target on yourself. I felt like we gave him a clear slate just like we each gave each other a clear slate. He just went completely out of his lane, shall I say. But then you continued to do stupid crap. I feel that Luke hasn't learned a thing whatsoever. I think that you are a narcissistic, cantankerous misogynist. I think that your future wife is going to be a prisoner of you if you don't learn how to change. We were coming from a position of care and wanted to say, 'Hey, there might be some things you want to change up. You never did and you still haven't shown that you've changed tonight." -Mike

"It's 2019, man. You've gotta wake up. I want you to mature. You can't talk to a woman like that. It's as simple as that." -Dylan
"Why did you do that?" -Luke S (about Luke P lying to Hannah about Luke S's intentions on the show)
"I don't know." -Luke P (didn't justify or explain any of his lies ever)
"I'll give you the final word on anything you want to say." -Chris
"It hurts me to hear you say that some of you don't accept my apology, and I want you to know that I'm sincerely sorry about how it played out and I really hope that you guys can forgive me." -Luke P (about "how it played out"? not about what you did or your own behavior? interesting)
"I take ownership for everything I did on the show and I just want you guys to know that the whole process was extremely tough for me. You guys still don't know me. You guys know me in the 'Bachelorette' bubble. And I want you guys to continue to see the man I am after this." -Luke P (interrupting the next segment to talk some more about himself)
