"We're trying to work it out -- that used to be my best friend's husband," Reza said. "You know, everyone makes mistakes."
"Shahs of Sunset" star Reza Farahan says he's "optimistic" he'll mend his friendship with Mercedes "MJ" Javid after the vandalism scandal.
While out in Los Angeles recently, the real estate mogul offered an update on where he and his co-star stand today -- months after MJ's husband Tommy Feight allegedly vandalized Reza's home and threatened to kill him.
Not long after the story broke, Reza was granted a restraining order against Tommy and said his friendship with Reza was beyond repair. Now, however, the Bravo star seems to have softened his stance on the matter.
"We're trying to work it out," Reza said. "You know, that used to be my best friend's husband. We're trying to work it out. You know, everyone makes mistakes."
When asked if he thinks he'll ever be friends with MJ again, Reza said, "I'm always optimistic. You know, I don't think right now is the right time."
"I just need a little distance, but obviously I have mad love for MJ and hopefully one day we can work things out," he added. "Just take a little break. Just figure things out."
'Shahs of Sunset' Star Reza Farahan Cuts Ties with Mercedes 'MJ' Javid: 'She Knows What She Did Was Horrible'
View StoryReza doesn't think Tommy is trying to prove he's not guilty, despite pleading innocent.
"I don't know that he's trying to say he didn't do it," Reza said. "I think aren't you supposed to plead innocent if you have a criminal case?"
"I don't know," he continued. "I wish them the best. Like you know, they just had a baby like I have nothing but compassion. I hope that whatever is happening over there gets straightened out."
It looks like time has changed Reza's views on the whole situation as he originally was adamant that he and MJ's friendship was over.
"I can never be friends with [MJ] again because, first, she sent her little minion to come do her dirty work," he told People back in May. "Then, in my opinion, she sent her husband to come vandalize my property and threaten my life."
"What's next? This is now beyond reality TV; this is real-life stuff that I'm dealing with. I'm dealing with restraining orders, and I'm dealing with thousands and thousands of [dollars of] property damage," he continued. "This is stuff that you can't go back from. You can't undo this."
Mercedes Javid Slams 'Selfish' Costars, Calls Out Reza for Blocking Her on Social Media (Exclusive)
View StoryDespite the fact that Reza believes it was Tommy who vandalized his home, he was most upset with MJ at the time for not reaching out, apologizing or offering to make things right.
"If it were me, and my husband had gone to someone's home and vandalized their home, the first thing I would do is pick up the phone," Reza explained. "I would call and say, 'Hey, I am so sorry. I know you don't believe me right now, but I am devastated for what my husband has done to you. I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I will make the financial situation right. Let me know how much damage he did. I will cut you a check for 10 times that amount. Please don't file a restraining order. Please don't pursue any legal action.'"
He added, "I would be so remorseful if my husband had gone to someone's home and vandalized it. I would be so remorseful if my husband had called and threatened your life. I would be doing everything in my power to make it right, but it's been radio-silent."
"So clearly, she's not remorseful," he said. "And clearly, she knows what she did was horrible. I'm speechless. I'm devastated."
