The Outstanding Variety Special went to Corden's 'Carpool Karaoke' special over Bey's 'Homecoming' documentary.
Beyonce's Beyhive didn't take kindly to her Emmy loss to James Corden at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday.
The pop superstar's "Homecoming" documentary about her legendary Coachella concert was bested by the "The Late Late Show" host's "Carpool Karaoke" special featuring Paul McCartney.
Fans were quick to take to social media to air their grievances, with one Twitter user going so far as to call the decision "misogynistic and racist".

james cordens carpool karaoke just won best technical direction.... a camera taped to a windshield just won an emmy over this pic.twitter.com/61jMbY1i5h

Beyoncé's Homecoming special lost to James Corden's Carpool Karaoke segment😂 yeah, I wonder which one required more effort and had a larger cultural impact......🙄

The gist of the uproar was the idea that the massive amount of the film's technical work proved less deserving than the Corden production of what some considered simply a Go-Pro camera attached to an automobile's windshield.
"james cordens carpool karaoke just won best technical direction.... a camera taped to a windshield just won an emmy over this," shared a user with a video of a cameraman navigating steep stairs while filming the "Formation" singer and her backup dancers.
The cameraman himself, Ben Hagarty, weighed in on the drama, providing a clip of Beyonce performing with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams while describing the grueling process.

View Story"I held a heavy ass camera and walked backwards keeping these 3 legends in frame while dave held a carabiner on my pants to guide me... Oh and I did it going down a set of stairs,' he explained. Hagarty then shared more pics of the production and revealed "finger tapping" signals were used to guide him around the stage.

Beyoncé spent 8 hours EVERY SINGLE DAY for 8 MONTHS right after nearly dying giving birth to TWINS rehearsing, breast-fed in between breaks, spent hours anazlying costumes & set list, training 100 dancers, & put her heart and soul on stage in a desert to lose to a carpool show. https://t.co/wF87gj896V

I really don't get what y'all expect from award shows when year after year after year they recognize as little poc as they can. Honestly big poc players shouldn't even show up and should start supporting BET more 🤷🏾♂️

The Beyhive also pointed out the incredible dedication Beyonce displayed in headlining the annual music festival and the fact that she was the first African American woman to hold that position.
"Beyonce spent 8 hours EVERY SINGLE DAY for 8 MONTHS right after nearly dying giving birth to TWINS rehearsing, breast-fed in between breaks, spent hours analyzing costumes & set list, training 100 dancers, & put her heart and soul on stage in a desert to lose to a carpool show," a fan noted.
"Award shows are a f---ing joke. How does Carpool Karaoke win an #Emmy over Beyonce's #Homecoming? Yes, James Corden is entertaining, but he's not the first Black Woman to headline Coachella," added another Twitter member.
"Homecoming" lost out on all of its six nominations as "Carpool Karaoke" walked away with a total of three Emmys. And the team behind "Homecoming" was none too pleased as Beyonce's publicist Yvette Noel-Schure shared an Instagram video Sunday showing the crew giving the middle finger at the Netflix after-party.
"#creativeartsemmys weekend done! #feelings," she captioned the video.
