John Travolta is fiercely loyal to his friends -- and this year he's pulling for "old buddy" Quentin Tarantino to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
Travolta, who starred in Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" in 1994, was outside Katsuya in Brentwood last night -- where he dissed "Avatar" and praised Quentin's "Inglourious Basterds" as his Academy Award favorite.
The awards are this Sunday.
