There was some big talent in the state of Texas for "American Idol's" Austin auditions episode last night -- including a cowboy named John Wayne!
John Wayne Schulz, the dreamy 23-year-old farm boy from Karnes City, TX, was one of the night's standouts -- singing a pure country version of Brooks & Dunn's "Believe."
Schulz got a golden ticket to Hollywood -- and he wasn't the only one. It seemed like everyone who went in front of the judges last night won them over, including ball of nerves Hollie Cavanaugh, who was passed through to the next round after they allowed her to sing a second song.
The episode started on an odd note, with a slate reading "American Idol would like to apologize for last week's outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler. Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again."
It appears the tongue-in-cheek opening had to do with Tyler's use of the F-word ... which he was seen using again last night.
