"Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder is gunning for one of the biggest roles in Hollywood: The lead in Universal's film adaptation of the erotic book trilogy "Fifty Shades of Grey."
With his piercing eyes, dark hair and chiseled features, Ian would make the perfect Christian Grey, the 27-year-old multi-millionaire with a secret and extremely kinky side.
While at 33, Somerhalder skews slightly older for the role, he revealed this morning to Ryan Seacrest that he "potentially" could be in the running to play Grey.
"I absolutely would be up for that, it could be amazing," Ian told Ryan. "I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out.”
He added, “I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!”
No word yet on who he'd like to have as his Anastasia Steele (we see her as an Elizabeth Olsen-type), but we'd love to hear your casting ideas below!
