It's been exactly five years since we lost Heath Ledger at the age of 28.
On January 22, 2008 the actor was found dead in his New York apartment, leaving behind daughter Matilda and a string of memorable and critically-acclaimed film roles.
It's a shame that he wouldn't live to see the release of "The Dark Knight" just months after his death, with his unhinged work as The Joker cementing his place in movie history and winning him a posthumous Academy Award.
And while he may be gone, with movies like "Brokeback Mountain" (which scored him an Oscar nomination) and the '90s teen classic "10 Things I Hate About You," he won't soon be forgotten.
