Nick Carter has been sober for over six years, but he says maintaining his sobriety is an on-going struggle.
The singer first opened up to Ellen DeGeneres in 2009 about his troubled past, revealing that he battled drug and alcohol addiction during the height of his fame with The Backstreet Boys.
The 35-year-old star stops by her show again on Friday, where he gives her an update on his health.
"The last time you were here, was 2009 and you were talking about struggling and you were very open and honest about struggling with drug and alcohol addiction," Ellen says to Nick. "And you seem to be doing better and you look fantastic."
"I am definitely doing better and its an every day type thing I gotta pay attention to," he admits. "Funny enough when I left that interview with you, the things you said stuck with me and if not for you, you were one of the biggest reasons I changed my life. You were straight forward with me and it meant a lot."
"Thank you I am glad I could help in any way and you look fantastic and I am happy that you feel healthy," she says with a smile.
Later in the show, Carter talks about the possibility of The Backstreet Boys going on tour with The Spice Girls.
"It was an idea, I am friends with Mel B, and its an idea that we have been pondering for quite some time and we thought it was a really cool thing to do," he reveals. "And all the boys, every single one of us are on board are on board and we would love to do it. Its really kind of up to the girls, and what they want to do. But funny enough, I thought maybe you could help us out with that."
"I will help you out!" Ellen exclaims. "You could try to orchestrate this entire thing, and make it happen I mean Ellen is super powerful," Nick replies.
Your move, Ellen!
