Kendrick Lamar, Katy Perry and The Weeknd dominated this year's nominations for MTV's Video Music Awards, which the network announced Tuesday.
Kendrick's video for "HUMBLE." came out on top with eight nominations, with Katy Perry and The Weeknd close behind with five noms each.
But perhaps the biggest nugget of news lies in the categories of this year's show. Best Male Video and Best Female Video have been combined into a non-gender-specific category -- Artist of the Year -- which echoes the network's decision to combine Best Actor and Best Actress at the MTV Movie & TV Awards earlier this year.
