“Shahs of Sunset” viewers watched Mercedes Javid and fiancé Tommy Feight discuss their baby fever for the first time on TV Sunday night, but the couple told TooFab the option to explore in vitro fertilization (IVF) actually began before they even met.
“A couple of years ago I froze my eggs and I had just met Tommy,” Javid said. “We were so in the beginning of that. We met on social media and I was like, 'Hi. I'm glad that we're together, but I'm also going to freeze my eggs.' And he was like, 'Are you planning a future without me?' And I said, 'No, you have to do that at a certain age.' It was already planned.”
Javid brought up her IVF appointments on a date with Feight during Sunday's episode, because she would like to have a baby as soon as possible now that she is happily engaged. The reality star even went as far as making her fiancé pinky promise he wouldn't masturbate while she was ovulating so she could also try to get pregnant naturally.
Javid's pregnancy plan comes from her lifelong desire to become a nurturing mother -- when the time is right. She said her fear of becoming a single mother comes from “abandonment issues” she developed after her mother left when she was just a young child.
“The whole thing with the kids is I have abandonment issues. I love what we are now, I just want to know that this is going to last so when we bring children into it, I won't be left alone,” she said. “I know that the best thing I could have done is make sure I got a chance to know him well. It's now been three years almost.”
But has it? According to Feight they actually started chatting on social media way earlier, even admitting Javid told him she loved him before they met in person. And with this new admiration, she had to do a “pop in” to meet her boy in person.
“I popped on over. I was with my friends coming home from Craigs and I was like, 'I'm already dressed, let me just see him,'” Javid said. “It was on my way home, I walked get in, I get out of my Uber, he's got a giant erection in those basketball pants that don't hold them in, and I was like, 'Oh, okay. Is that the door?' And I think that he thought, 'Oh, she wants it.' But I didn't want it, I just wanted to see him.”
