Sequels and remakes continue to dominate the cineplexes, and as long as they do, the Golden Raspberry Awards will continue to (dis)honor them.
The 2018 Razzies nominations were unveiled Monday and the leading contenders are the latest in the "Transformers" and "Fifty Shades" sagas, along with "The Mummy" remake.
SAG Awards Say #TimesUp: 9 Most Powerful (and Hilarious) Moments
View StoryThe latest attempt to launch a Universal Monsters franchise flopped as hard as the previous tries, but star Tom Cruise joins co-stars Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella in bringing the film's total nominations to seven. It is only bested by "Fifty Shades Darker" at eight and "Transformers: The Last Knight" at nine. And while animated movies are rarely up for the top honor, "The Emoji Movie" proudly joins all three of the noms leaders, along with "Baywatch," in the battle for Worst Picture.
Mark Wahlberg is up for Worst Actor for "Transformers," facing an A-list roster of star including Johnny Depp, Jamie Dornan, Zac Efron, and Cruise. On the Worst Actress side, Jennifer Lawrence's turn in "mother!" failed to impress, throwing the Oscar-winner into a pool that includes Dakota Johnson, Katherine Heigl, Emma Watson and Tyler Perry (for his work in the latest Madea film).
Worst Screen Combo continues to be the category to watch with nominees like "Any combination of two characters, two sex toys or two sexual positions" for "Fifty Shades Darker," and "Any combination of two humans, two robots or two explosions" for "Transformers: The Last Knight."
"Winners" will be revealed on March 3; as usual, exactly one day before the Oscars. Below is the complete list of nominees:
