Nikki Bella and John Cena are officially over, the WWE Diva confirmed Monday evening.
After TMZ cited "sources close to the former couple" to report the split yesterday morning, Bella released an official statement to People confirming the news.
"After I called off the engagement, we tried to work on our relationship to get back to where it was, and in order to move forward with our wedding. After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways," Bella said. "I had a beautiful and loving 6-year relationship with a wonderful man. I have the utmost respect for John, but I know this is what's best for me."
Nikki Bella Calls Off Wedding To John Cena (Again): 'I Ruined Everyone's Fairy Tale'
View StoryThe world watched the saga of their on-again-off-again relationship unfold on this past season of "Total Bellas," as well as in the media. Cena was the first to call off the wedding over their different opinions on kids, only to come back to Bella with a promise to undergo a reverse vasectomy in order to give her a child. But then his bride started to get cold feet. By the season finale of the E! reality show, Bella had decided on camera not to proceed.
"I definitely feel like I haven't been myself for a long time," Nikki said at the end of the episode. "I feel like I'm starting a journey of finding me again and I just feel like in my heart, when I heal myself and figure out what's wrong with me, like he will be there. And if he's not then it wasn't meant to be. You have to follow you heart and you have to know that the sun will still always rise tomorrow and that everything will be okay and you really have to do what makes you happy."
Nikki Bella Is 'Exhausted And Done' With John Cena, Says Relationship Has Come To An 'End'
View StoryOf course, viewers didn't actually get to see the breakup. The reality show flashed forward to week after the split, showing Bella reflecting on the split in a conversation with her sister, Brie Bella, on the beach.
"Actually today I've felt the best yet, since John," Bella said. "Since the breakup, the first time that I've talked to John face-to-face, but literally taking your advice, it is the first time that I've told him everything. How I've felt about everything. Everything that has bothered me the past six years, stuff I've been holding in, stuff that hurt me, and I can't tell you like the relief I have."
Of course, TooFab and viewers alike weren't sure if the couple would really be done. And we're still not, to be honest, but Bella's statement is the most closure fans following the relationship drama have gotten so far.
As for Cena, he may have commented on the situation earlier Monday afternoon with a cryptic tweet.
If you can learn something from your experiences, good and bad, you will live with little to no regret.
