During the 2019 Golden Globes Sunday night, Regina King offered an important challenge for celebrities to use their platform to implement change.
While accepting her well-deserved award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama for her role in "If Beale Street Could Talk," King vowed to use her power to create diversity and equality in all of her Hollywood projects. Although the music tried to get her off the stage, King wasn't going to leave without giving her important message.

"The reason why we do this is because we understand that our microphones are big and we're speaking for everyone and I just want to say that I'm going to use my platform right now to say: in the next two years, everything that I produce, I am making a vow and it's going to be tough to make sure that everything I produce [will be] 50 percent women."
Many celebrities, including Time's Up pioneer Jessica Chastain stood up and cheered at King's words.
King concluded her speech, "And I challenge everyone out there who is in a position of power, in all industries, I challenge you to challenge yourself and stand with us in solidarity and do the same."
