Why Piers Morgan Hates the Idea of Sophie Turner Playing Boy George in a Biopic

Piers Morgan doesn't approve of Sophie Turner playing Boy George in a biopic simply because she's a woman.

In an angry rant during Tuesday morning's episode of "Good Morning Britain," the British journalist slammed the idea of the "Game of Thrones" star taking on the role of the singer, despite the fact Boy George, himself, was thrilled with Turner possibly playing his younger self in a film.

"Boy George, in his biopic, presumably at some stage has sex with people. How is he going to do that if he doesn't have the equipment?" Morgan said on the morning show, according to The Sun. "There are reality checks to having Sophie Turner playing Boy George, one of which is: she's a woman."

"Does Wonder Woman get played by a man? No," he added. "When someone is a famous man like Boy George how can it be a woman playing [him]?"

The "Britain's Got Talent" judge continued to slam the idea of any woman portraying a male character.

"Create your own damn character," Morgan said. "Don't take our characters, don't take our pop stars, leave us alone."

He added, "It's a very insidious thing that every male character, a woman wants to play, it's creepy."

Morgan also pointed out that if there's ever a biography about his life, he wants it to be "played by a man."

While Morgan thinks people would get upset if Turner played Boy George, it's one of the reasons the Culture Club frontman would want Turner to do it.

"It's really strange, but that's been a suggestion [I think] that will upset people, which I quite like," the "Time" singer told Australian radio station Nova 96.9 Monday.

Turner's name was brought into the mix on Monday when Boy George told British Vogue the 23-year-old actress was an "interesting suggestion" to play his younger self.

"[People will say] 'she can't play you she's a woman,' you know," Boy George told the publication. "But when I was 17, I would have loved to have been her."

And Turner, for one, seems super into the idea. "I'm SO down," the "Dark Phoenix" star tweeted.
